Hi, I tried to contact Dell, but the website is only capable to tell me my warranty is no more and that's it. If I click on 'contact us', it enters into some infinite loop where I never get to contact anyone...
I forgot my hard-drive password, but everything was working fine because I would type the admin password to boot. Today, I decided to disable the admin password (I knew the password after all) and after doing that and trying to reboot, I got a msg box saying: Hard-drive #066********-6FF1, the Mini Card SSD, is protected by password... Please type in the hard drive password
Just to clarify, I didn't add those 8 '*', they were part of the original message. The funny thing about that message is the SDD serial number ends on 066 and it is actually 12 digits long instead of 11.
As a test, I managed to set the admin password again (after removing the SSD drive) and set a password for the second hard-drive. As soon as I disabled the admin password, the 2nd drive started asking for the password showing '#00441******-6FF1', where '00441' are the last 5 serial number digits (this hard drive has a serial number with 14 characters). The funny thing is: I was able to set the admin password again, but that didn't unlock the SDD drive. Also, for this second hard drive the code has only 6 '*', but the total length is still 11.
BTW, I tested bios-pw.org to unlock the admin password, and it worked like a charm... it just doesn't work with the SSD hard-drive :(
Thanks in advance for any help!
