I tried the password that was generated for my device number and fails to work.

STOP, you are doing GitHub wrong.
Before opening an issue, go to issues, remove is:open and search for your issue! Since this project does not have many issues, just browsing trough helps as well!

try to generate the password with suffix BF97, for your instance, try G7yxUrQWEM23kk1J
it would be BIOS bug, I figure it out by accident and it worked for me.
