Not an issue, but question regarding macOS support #2
Comments
Hello again @kylefmohr! Nice to see your ongoing interest in the project. Indeed, I was planning to release on MacOS regularly in the long-run. Actually a friend of mine tested it already and was more or less successful. He was able to run it on MacOS by just calling it via Python, which is why I'm claiming that it's compatible. However, the build and packaging via briefcase had some issues for him (it produced some weird OOM error, afair). I'd happily invite you to become a contributor. Please check the contributing guideline: https://github.com/andzeil/easy-mqtt-handler/blob/master/docs/CONTRIBUTING.md https://github.com/andzeil/easy-mqtt-handler/blob/master/docs/BUILDING.md and https://github.com/andzeil/easy-mqtt-handler/blob/master/docs/PACKAGING.md should get you started. Both of the points you raised are btw mentioned here, already: https://github.com/andzeil/easy-mqtt-handler/blob/master/docs/TODOS.md So yeah, I'd be happy to accept any contribution you can make. For the moment I'd keep it off the Apple Store and publish builds on GitHub, only. However, in the long-run I'm definitely open to publishing on the Store. Only problem really is that I don't own any Apple devices, but if you could help in handling that I'm totally fine with that. |
I definitely get what you mean, and wouldn't publish to anything like the App Store without your express permission. I'll make an attempt at the GitHub Actions checklist item this afternoon. |
@kylefmohr: are you still planning to work on this one, or shall I close it for the moment? |
Hi again! I noted there wasn't a release of the macOS version of this application, is that something you're interested in pursuing? I am pretty confident in my ability to assist with this - I was able to get it running on my Mac last night, and I also have an Apple Developer subscription, so I might be able to help with codesigning too.
Tangentially related: any interest in using GitHub actions for builds and releases?
