  • Mention that the usage of the middleware is now optional for i18n routing setup and you can provide a completely custom one for complex cases
  • Wait until rootParams lands in Next.js stable
  • Update publishing date
  • Update Next.js version number

The previously deprecated locale argument will serve an edge case in the future once rootParams is a thing

@amannn shall we still use rootParams with v4.0.2 or is it not ready?

@kklem0 rootParams was silently released as unstable_rootParams in Next.js 15.2. The Next.js team hasn't publicly announced the feature yet and I think they're still ironing out some edges.

If you decide to give rootParams a try, you can leave a note in #1627 with your findings!
