Installation

AAUnlimited installation is as simple as unpacking the contents of your download to the appropriate folder. Technically it can be unpacked anywhere but if you have AA2Mini, you must follow the next steps:

  1. Download the latest AAUnlimited package from the release page
  2. Unpack the contents in the same folder the game launchers are. In other words, place the AAUnlimited folder next to AA2Edit and AA2Play.
  3. Do NOT remove the existing folder, it has files that are important files like the game configuration. Instead, overwrite its contents when asked.

Patching the exe files

If the game installation didn't come with AAUnlimited included, you will have to patch the game executables. Otherwise, most certainly you can skip this section.

  1. Double click repatch.bat in the AAUnlimited folder. In the patcher window that opens, check that the shown exe file locations are your default play/make launchers. If they are not, click on the "..." buttons to select the appropiate files.

  2. Click on "OK" to patch the game.

    Warning: This will modify your game. Consider backing up your files before patching

  3. You can now play the game.

Updating

Download the latest AAUnlimited and just extract it into your existing AAUnlimited folder. Override all conflicts. Do not patch the exes again. Do NOT run repatch.bat again.

Usual gotchas when updating:

  • Some scripts don't like your past script settings. Open savedconfig.lua in notepad, and delete line starting with mod= (very long line, hit end to jump at the end of it)
  • When everything fails, delete old AAUnlimited folder, and place a new version there. There is no need to run the patcher again, as long the folder name is the same. You might want to preserve your AAUnlimited\poser folder since that's where the poses and props are stored and the forcedconfig.lua if you're using AA2Mini/AA2MiniPPX.

AA2MiniPPX

AA2MiniPPX is a repack of AA2 that includes AAUnlimited, and it is highly recommended that you use it. Your game will be more stable, it will run faster, and it is much more compact, it's only 3gb and it doesn't require installation. All important mods for it are available in the ppx format and are also just drag and drop, they don't require AA2Install/Wizzard. Read more information on that here.
