Cosmic Horror |
culture, collection |
Cosmic horror explores the idea that the higher forces of the universe (supernatural beings, gods, etc) either do not care about or act against humans. Our morals and values are juxtaposed against a completely indifferent world, which functions in a way incomprehensible to our brains.
Cosmic horror has fascinated me since childhood, especially when mixed together with body horror or biomechanics, so I'm keeping my humble list of related material on this page.
- Annihilation
- Event Horizon
- The Alien franchise contains some elements of cosmic horror, especially in Prometheus movies
- Conarium
- NaissanceE
- Dead Space
- Stuck In The Sound - Brother
- DyE - FANTASY (unfortunately the music video was removed from YouTube)
- Howard Phillips Lovecraft - needs no introduction
- Zdzisław Beksiński - polish artist, known for his terrifying, surreal paintings
- Hans Rudolf Giger - Swiss artist, father of biomechanical designs and the Xenomorph from Alien
- Tsutomu Nihei - manga artist, author of Blame!
- Carlo Rambaldi - special effects artist, known primarly for Alien and E.T.
