Uninformative error msg if user fails to associate data item with time point

If the user fails to associate a data item with a time point while inputting a study, an error is thrown
"sorry .. an error was encountered" and their work on the data item selection page is not show. User should not lose all work on that page and an informative error msg e.g, "data item not associated with time point".
