<p>இனி, இவ்விந்திய நாட்டுக்கு மிகப்பழைய மொழிகளாய், அதாவது இற்றைக்கு 5000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னே தொட்டு பயிலப்படுஞ் சிறந்த நாகரிக மொழிகளாய்த் திகழ்வன திமிழுஞ் சமஸ்கிருதம் பொது மக்களாற் பேசப்படாமற் பல்லாயிர ஆண்டுகட்கு முன்னரே இறந்துபோயிற்று. மற்றுத், தமிழ் மொழியோ ஐயாயிர ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னே தொட்டு இயல் இசை நாடக இலக்கணங்களும், மக்கள் வாழ்க்கையின் பல துறைகளிலும் அறிவை விளக்கி இன்பத்தை ஊட்டும் அரியபெரியபல இயற்றமிழ் இலக்கிய நூல்களும் ஆயிரக்கணக்காக உடையதாய், இன்றுகாறும் பல கோடிமக்களாற் பேசவும் எழுதவும் பயிற்சி செய்யவும் படும் உயிருடை நன் மொழியாய் உலவிவருகின்றது. தமிழிலுள்ள பழைய நூல்களெல்லாம் அருளொழுக்கத்தையும் ஒரே முழுமுதற் கடவுள் வணக்கத்தையும் அறிவுறுத்தி உயிர்க்கொலை ஊனுணவு கட்குடி பலசிறு தெய்வ வணக்கம் பலசாதி வேற்றுமை முதலான தீயவொழுக்கங்களைக் கடிந்து விலக்குகின்றன. இத்தீய வினைகளைச் செய்யுமாறு ஏவிப் பொய்யும் புளுகும் புகலும் ஆரிய நூல்களைப்போல்வன பழந்தமிழில் ஒன்றுதானும் இல்லை; பிறந்து துன்புற்று இறந்தொழிந்த மக்களை யெல்லாங் கடவுளாக்கி, அவர் செய்யதவற்றைச் செய்தனவாகப் புனைந்து கட்டிப் பொய்யாய் உரைக்கும் வடமொழிப் புராண கதைகளைப் போல்வன பழந்தமிழில் ஒன்றுதானும் இல்லை. பழந்தமிழிலுள்ள நூல் களெல்லாம் உள்ளவற்றை உள்ளவாறே நுவல்வன; மக்கள் தம் மனமொழி மெய்களால் நினைப்பனவுஞ் சொல் வனவுஞ் செய்வனவுமெல்லாந் தூயனவாய் இருக்க வேண்டுமென்று வற்புறுத்துவன; மக்கள் வாழ்க்கையானது அன்பையும் அறத்தையும் இரண்டு கண்களாகக்கொண்டு, ஒரு தெய்வ வழிபாடாகிய உயிருடன் கூடி உலவ வேண்டுமென உயர்த்துக்கூறுவன. பிற் காலத்தில் வடசொற்கலப்பும் வடநூற் பொய் கொள்கைகளுங் கதைகளும் விரவிய மொழிபெயர்ப்பு நூல்கள் தமிழில் அளவின்றிப் பெருகித் தமிழ்மக்களை அறியாமையிலும் பொய்யிலும் பல தீவினைகளிலும் படுப்பித்திருந்தாலும், விழுமிய பண்டைத் தமிழ் நூற்பயிற்சியுஞ் சைவசித்தாந்த மெய்யுணர்வுந் திரும்பப் பரவத்துவங்கிய பின், ஆரியப் பொய்ந்நூல் வலிதேய்ந்துவருகின்றது. அதனுடன் மேல் நாட்டு வெள்ளைக்கார மெய்யறிவினரின் அரியபெரிய ஆராய்ச்சிகளும் ஆங்கில மொழிப்பயிற்சியின் வாயிலாக இவ்விந்திய நாடெங்கும் பரவிவருவதும், ஆரிய நூற்பொய்ம்மை விரைந்து தேய்தற்குப் பெரிதுந் துணை செய்து வருகின்றது. இவைகளையெல்லாம் நடுநின்று நோக்கவல்ல உண்மைத் தேயத் தொண்டர்கள் உளராயின், இவ்விந்திய
நாட்டுக்கு மிகப்பழைய மொழியாய் இருப்பதுடன், இன்றுகாறும் பல கோடி மக்களாற் பேசப்பட்டுவரும் உயிருடை மொழியாயும், இவ் விந்திய மக்களை எல்லாத் துறைகளிலும் மேலேற்றத்தக்க பல சீரிய நூல்களை உடையதாயும் உள்ள தமிழ்மொழியையே இவ்விந்திய தேயம் முழுமைக்கும் பொதுமொழியாக்க அவர் முன்வந்து முயல்ல் வேண்டும். மேலும் தமிழ் மொழி வழங்குந் தமிழ்மக்கள் இத்தென்னாட்டில் மட்டுமேயன்றி நடுநாட்டின்கட் பெங்களூர், மைசூர், சிகந்தராபாக்கம் முதலியவற்றிலும், மேற்கே புனா, பம்பாய் முதலிய இடங்களிலும், வடக்கே கல்கத்தா, காசி முதலான நகர்களிலும், கிழக்கே காக்கிநாடா, நெல்லூர் முதலான ஊர்களிலும் பெருந் தொகையினராய்க் குடியேறியிருந்து வாணிவாழ்க்கையிற் சிறந்து வாழ்கின்றனர். தமிழ்மக்கள் இவ்விந்திய தேயத்தின் மட்டுமேயன்றி, இதற்கு அப்பாலுள்ள எல்லாத் தேயங்களிலும் போய் வைகி வாழ்ந்து வருவதும் முன்னமேகாட்டினாம். இங்ஙனம் எல்லாவகையாலுஞ் சிறந்த தமிழ்மொழி இவ்விந்தியநாடு முழுமைக்கும் பொதுமொழியாதற்குரிய நலங்கள் எல்லாம் வாய்ந்த தாயிருந்தும், அதனைப் பொதுமொழியாக்க முயலாமல், நானூறு ஐந்நூறு ஆண்டுகளாகவே தோன்றிப் பழைய சிறந்த நூற்செல்வமின்றி வறியனவாய்ப் பலவகைக் குறைபாடுகள் உடையனவாய்ப் பெரும்பாலும் நாகரிக மில்லா வடவர்களாற் பேசப்படும் ‘இந்தி‘ முதலான சிதைவுக் கலப்புமொழிகளை இத்தேயத்திற்குப் பொது மொழியாக்க வேண்டுமென்று கூக்குரலிட்டு முயல்வோர் உண்மையான தொண்டர்களாவரா வென்பதனை அறிவுடையோர் ஆழ்ந்து நினைத்துப் பார்த்தல் வேண்டும்.</p>
