Memory leak fix

Fixed some (hopefully all) memory leaks

Stability improvement

Fixed some small issues with errors handling and one not critical, but annoying issue with grid pings stopping going; and grid eventually hanging up.

Bugfix

Serious bugfixes and new API call to retrieve library version at runtime.
