Looking to Contribute back

I'm looking to help contribute back as well as run unit tests through a business critical Snowflake account. What is the best way to help and get started here. I recently opened a validation.go issue that I would like to help fix.

1. Do I need to fork the repo to contribute?
2. Who are the best contacts to work with for helping resolve open issues and the roadmap of work to be done.
