Hello,
I would like to synchronize Notefox with 2 different computers. All notes from computer 1 should also be displayed on computer 2. Furthermore, new notes that are synchronized with computer 1 should also be visible on computer 2 or vice versa.
I have created a Notefox account and set it up on both computers, but I can only see the notes on one computer. No notes appear on the second computer although the same Notefox account is used. Settings are synchronized but the notes are completely missing.
What do I have to do to make this work?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Best regards, ChaosRacer

@Chaos-Racer Hi! Firstly, I'm so sorry about your inconvenience. If you created a Notefox Account and log in to the same account on both computers, it should work without doing anything else. Probably there is some problems, and I'll try to fix them.

Before, we need to check something.

Please, could you tell me:

  • your OS (macOS, Windows, Ubuntu, ...)
  • your web browser (Firefox, Chrome, Edge, ...)
  • your web browser version (135, ...)
  • Notefox version (4.0, ...)

Thanks!

@Chaos-Racer OK, so because you're using Firefox it should definitely work!

Do you have any other extensions installed which can block Notefox requests?

To try this, disable all add-ons except Notefox. Then restart your Firefox and try again to see the Notefox Account sync your data see this article.

Try also to force once a manually sync of data (Notefox Settings > Notefox Account > Manage account > Sync data)

Hello, I have tested the following:

Disabled all addons except Notefox, restarted and then triggered the synchronization. Without success.

I also tried to do the synchronization manually as described. Without success.

I also tested Notefox with a new and clean profile and tried to synchronize the notes there as well. Without success.

With all 3 variants I could not synchronize any notes. I originally only saved the notes locally without sync. Now I have set up the synchronization and the notes are not displayed on any other device where I am logged in with the Notefox account. Also new notes are only shown in the local account but not on the 2nd computer. The Firefox installations and OS versions are identical.

I cannot recognize any error and cannot explain why it does not seem to work.

Thank you very much for your help

@Chaos-Racer Ok, so it looks like there are an issue with the sync, very weird. I'm so sorry about this.

Could you tell me your country? Maybe my server "denies" your requests.
Are you able to reach the https://www.notefox.eu/ website ?

We can try some other things:

  1. Update Notefox to the latest version (4.2 right now)
  2. (with the Notefox add-on enabled) go to about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox
  3. There you should see the list of add-ons, also Notefox
  4. Press the button "Inspect" of the Notefox section
  5. You'll be able to see a new window ("Developer tools" relative to the Notefox addon)
  6. Go to the "Console" tab of that window

And now, please, go to Notefox Settings (do not close the Developer tools window) > Notefox Account > Manage account > Sync now
Please, see if in the Developer tools > Console it's displayed some errors, in that case please, send me a screenshot of it, so I can investigate where the Sync fails

I should totally add a feature like "Save logs" for these purposes

Hello,
my country is Germany and I can access https://www.notefox.eu/ without any problems.

I have updated Notefox to version 4.2 as described. Afterwards I checked for errors in the console as described, but when I activate the sync function no errors are displayed and the notes still do not seem to be synchronized.

I currently have 2 test systems in use and none of them work. The local storage works fine but I can't get the notes to synchronize and be the same on both systems.

Is there an alternative way to save the notes locally, e.g. on a shared drive where both devices can access them in order to synchronize them locally without an online server or Notefox account? Is it possible to add such a function?

Thank you very much for your help

@Chaos-Racer Please, write to me via email, because I would like investigating "server side" (I cannot access to your data, they are encrypted, but I can see the last data inserted in the database).

So, I need you send me via email or Telegram –because it could be a sensitive data– the "login-id": you can find it in the same section the previous message ("Debug addons" > "Inspect"), then go to "Network" tab and you'll see all the requests the Notefox addon does.

Image

Open one of that (for example, "check-id" and go to "Request"), there you should see "login-id" and "token". Send me your login-id don't share never the token, because it permits to get your data until it expires, so I can analyse server side.

If the console doesn't show you any issues ... it's very very weird, and I cannot understand. I'm so sorry about this inconvenience, I'm trying to understand this.

There isn't another way to sync notes, until you export and import them manually each time
