Introduction

In this tutorial, we demonstrate the basic functions (sensors, motors) and extensions of SMARTmBOT, and its applicability for swarm research.

The content of this tutorial is as follows:

  1. Sensor and Motor Test

  2. Expandability Test

  3. Swarm Control Test

  4. Human-swarm Interaction Test

You can watch a full demo video of SMARTmBOT at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn3vcqFgf90.

1. Sensor and Motor Test

2. Expandability Test

A. Control RGB LED Strip

B. Object Transport with a robot arm

We mounted an open-source robotic arm on the SMARTmBOT to show its expandability. The robotic arm is available to download from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:436096.

3. Swarm Control Test: Rendezvous Control Test & Diffusion Control Test

4. Human-swarm Interaction Test
