Best practices for installing software (kallisto) on raven?

What would be the recommended manner? For instance I hesitate to install various package managers..

Go to the GitHub repo and then the "releases" tab. Download the gzipped tarball with "linux" in the filename.

Unpack the downloaded file and the program should be ready to go (don't think anything had to be compiled).
