Add gnome-keyring and gnome-keyring-pam to default pattern, seems to work as well as anything, and doesn't pull a bunch of other junk in

+1 from me. I installed it and works well enough and has a small dependency chain. I can't think of a better option to be honest.

add the stuff in pam configuration to unlock the keychain on login

Looking at the pam.d configs coming from Tumbleweed, need to figure out how to alter them. Right now, this will only work, if a display manager is used.
