Minutes

Review Tiegan’s feedback

  • Maybe not start with a multi-hazard threat map

Review Murray’s feedback

  • Starting with a map is preferable but agree that the content of the map needs to be carefully considered

Discussion:

Level of detail for user profiles

  • planner would require something like what Murray as provided
  • Jamie: this would be challenging for the Public
  • Tiegan: our planner goal is not the well-resourced cities
  • Malaika: this will be used to understand risk in a jurisdiction/community
    • We are not providing a workflow for planners
    • have a tool for a community to support mitigation funding

Sahar:

  • I would expect an overview of risk for my city as a public user
  • Let users drill down to address

Tiegan: general public, like temblor what is the risk to my asset and myself

  • Sahar: absolutely
  • Tiegan: smart phone in less than a minute
  • Malaika: we need to be able to portray the risk in a way that makes sense to them
  • Jamie: most people are interested in how things affect them - “what’s my risk”
    • probably not too interested in neighbours risk

Decision:

  • we will support plann-agers (planners & emergency managers) AND public

Jamie:

  • will do “address” and “muni” views
  • national scale will be accessed through “by hazard”

Chat Notes

From Malaika U. to Everyone: (9:09 AM)
I like the postal code header, rather than census division which I don't think people relate to.

From Sahar S. to Everyone: (9:15 AM)
In high-density urban zone, the census divisions are small and the whole population would be exposed to hazards that are not very localized (EQ, Cyclone, flood).

This is my dream “risk profile”
I think this example of a profile talks both to the audience but also very useful for a planner

From Malaika U. to Everyone: (9:36 AM)

Sahar, I don't see that as a risk profile, but a community profile. Is there another section on risk?

From Sahar S. to Everyone: (9:36 AM)

Yes, it's not :)
But imagine this type of format provide all the risk information we know about a city

From Tiegan H. to Everyone: (9:47 AM)

I think we could definitely link to those resources! Like preparedBC, etc.

From Sahar S. to Everyone: (9:48 AM)

Yes, the public would definitely expect that.
