Concept Class

Overview

The Concept Class vocabulary is a service OMOP vocabulary. It includes concepts that describe all concept classes represented in OMOP vocabularies. These concepts are used to fill the concept_class table in CDM.

Sources

The Concept Class vocabulary is created and supported by the vocabulary team.

Concept Names

All concept names are assigned according to the source-asserted semantic categories of each Vocabulary. As some Vocabularies, such as HCPCS, don’t provide any concept classes, their Concept Class names match Vocabulary names.

Concept Code

Concepts are assigned with the same concept code ‘OMOP generated’ or have numeric values.

Standard Concepts

All concepts in the Concept Class vocabulary are non-Standard.

Domains

All concepts in the Concept Class vocabulary belong to the Metadata domain.

Concept Relationships

Concepts in the Concept Class vocabulary are used for reference only and do not have either hierarchical or attribute relationships to other concepts.
