  1. November 2014: For NaNoGenMo write gutengrep, a poetry and story generator using Project Gutenberg (source).
  2. February 2015: Using gutengrep, combine hip-hop lyrics with classic literature into Twitter bot @gutendelight (source).
  3. April 2015: For @kaikkisanat (the Finnish @everyword) write a utility to make it easier to find its most popular tweets from the previous month (source).
  4. Apply (3) to (2) to generate a poem of hip hop mixed with classic literature in English, German and Welsh!

Gutendelight, a poem

I

And then you look at your plate and your chicken's slowly rotting
We are to have you for a week's yachting.

For the young lady with nice fine thighs
These provisions are often detailed and complicated and hence are difficult to summarize.

Damn if I say it you can slap me right here
"Thank you; give it me," cried the musketeer.

Like Fred Flintstone, driving around with bald feet
Across the furthest corner was stretched a ragged sheet.

Rest a little while so ya don't get weak
What is the signification of this new freak?

II

Just let me quit my boyfriend called Superman
They AREN'T in fact, and so they're supermen.

Cause all I'm here to do is just wiggle your behind
Then Sir Fergus told her how he was almost out of his mind.

Food was flying everywhere
[FN#297] In text "Najas" = a pear.

I can't walk through the park cause it's crazy after dark
Is't not enough to clatter with thy jaws, But thou must bark?

(And then he) Move right up, (And then he) Kiss your lips
Is the greatest possible ellipse.

III

We're like Machine Gun Kelly and Bonnie and Clyde
Well, then, pull ahead, and let's get the whale alongside.

But I can bust you out with my super sperm
APPROVE, prove, confirm.

We got golden voices and hearts of steel
perchance swift cure our hearts shall heal.

I tried to get away but I couldn't get far
"She is still at the Conservatoire?"

Elvis was a hero to most
There hast thou the sacred theme, Therein the inveterate spur, Of the Innermost.

IV

Lookin' for the cook
Tis a useful crook!

A time to live and a time to die
Wenn haben unsere Vorfahren Kaffee getrunken, die doch auch ihre Freude hatten, und herzlicher als wir.

Just like my man captain sky
Ond yr oedd yn bryd troi i'r ty.

To all the young ladies, this is what it be
See the Chronicle of John Villani, (l. xi.

Cause I'ma get a fly girl, gonna get some spank and drive off in a def OJ
Great was the astonishment when one of the donkeys began to bray.

V

(And then he) Hold on tight so I never slip
"I wasn't making fun of you," protested Tip.

A name appears in your mind
(5) They all inquire: "To what punishment is this knight to be consigned?

To the hip hip hop and you don't stop
exclaimed that admirable slop.

They asked me my name
The bull has the game.

At bringin' back any help
The name Sargasso comes from the Spanish word "sargazzo" which signifies kelp.

That works quite well.

I spent a night fighting with (the few?) node wordnik libraries -- there seemed to be fundamental issues that I could fix in some cases, but I was still hampered by lack of documentation (the main lib worked under the dual assumptions that 1) the user was quite familiar with the wordnik API and 2) the user was the author).

So I switched to banging on somebody else's code that I had banged on previously.
