Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently the STAB3 switch is not used in any regtest, so we are not properly testing this feature.

Describe the solution you'd like
Create a regtest or make use of an existing one to test the functionality of the STAB3 switch.

Describe alternatives you've considered
It could be left untested.

Additional context
We found recently that selecting the STAB3 switch led to a build error in a the cmake build system, due to a small logic bug which required both ST3/ST4, vs. requiring one or the other. PR #1086 will resolve the bug, however a regtest wasn't added yet.
