Deleted comments may contribute to unread comment count

With the recent mass-deletion of very bad comments (thank you, by the way!), my suspicion has grown that the number of unread comments displayed on the question feed and at the top of a question page includes unread comments that have been deleted. It would be great if the unread-comment count did not include deleted comments so we don’t waste time looking for new comments that will never be found.
