Pre-release

This is the alpha release of new overlay code to resolve issues with the old method (Issue 20 & Issue 27.

The method used is very different to the old one, and the effect needs to be tuned differently. More work needs to be done, but the extension is now usable and I am now running it in this form myself.

Known Issues

  • Frame drops while changing the overlay colour while it is active
  • Also, flickering when changing hot
  • When running in the embedded test environment, rendering problems happen leading to the mouse trailing
  • The alpha slider has a different impact curve than with the old overlay
  • Alpha cap no longer works
  • New colour picker is clunky
  • Design so different will need to capture feedback
  • Overlay only applies to main monitor if activated when not in activities view. if in activities view, the overlay applies to all monitors

Planned changes

  • Move colour selection to extension settings with a colour selector widget, showing a preview
  • Expand preferences page to have an about dialog and link to capture feedback
  • New alpha cap function
