The Ascendancy

The Ascendancy was a splinter group of radicalised scientists, engineers and psychologists, for the most part. When they became frustrated with the slow pace of technological advancement in the Tyridium galaxy, these people banded together, pooling their knowledge, and were able to take over the galactic government for a few months. In the ensuing war, their goal was achieved; technology advanced rapidly, although it did so at the cost of millions of lives. At the end of the war, the Ascendancy were banished to the north of the known galaxy, known as the Nether Regions, on account of the lives lost in the war.
