Had another thought about it and I feel like this is something gamemodes could just handle themselves.
There is no problem with storing entities in tables, so in case server modders desire to make ID-based commands like /heal <player id> they can just set up a local table and track players by themselves.
Accessing entities by handle is always preferred and once gamemodes grow it is expected they would use entity IDs directly especially within web UIs or other systems.
