Cannot find wav file in the folder where there is an mp3 file, error in conversion?

System: OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
Python 3.6, PyQt 5.6.0, Anaconda 1.6.2, Spyder 3.1.4,

There are 10 son files and an mp3 file in the folder where the wave file is searched for. mp3 file has the same name(except the extention) as the wave file which could not be found. Is it possible that conversion is attempted and could not be performed? How could I track that? Thanks.
