I'm looking for a simple and responsive bar to enhance my i3 desktop environment.

I am testing out dockbarx and I'm trying to configure it to hide outside the left edge of my screen, and pop up when I move my mouse there.

However, so far I'm failing miserably in getting dockbarx to float above windows, rather than acting like a tiled window, pushing all my other windows away.

Also, when I configure the bar to stay on the left or right side of the screen, it still acts as if it's docked to the bottom or top of the screen, taking up a huge amount of vertical space:

Is it possible to configure this bar to work with i3?

You could remove this line as a temporary solution.

The packages in my PPA were already updated.
Set the 'Type' to 'normal window' in dbx_preference will solve your problem.

@xuzhen Huh, surprisingly enough, commenting out the line you mentioned worked almost perfectly. Strange there isn't an option to do that in the preferences window.
