This is a pre-release of DEMoCap. More features and bug fixes will be added before the first official release. The pre-release though can be already used for game development purpose.

Requires working installation of Drag[en]gine Game Engine version 1.10 or newer: https://dragondreams.ch/?page_id=152#downloads-dragengine

Changes in 0.:

  • updated example characters with stiffer shoulder which looks better
  • fixed auto-first-person-view not working correctly with waist tracker without chest tracker
  • changed add motion transfer to use sub-menu instead of choose from list dialog
  • added guide twist support to inverse kinematics motion transfer to improve knee-without-tracker
  • modified auto-human to use 2 twist bones for elbow tracker not used and 1 for elbow tracker used
  • replaced placeholder menus updated with proper menus
  • added support to reorder stage directions using drag/drop
  • updating example characters with the new way of creating the calibration and base ik animation. this way of creating them works for both capturing with elbow/knee trackers and without elbow/knee trackers. getting the base ik animation right is the tricky part. if done correctly the results are good otherwise medium at best.
  • modified ik motion transfer to orientation transfer of guide bone. this works with legs and arms but requires calibration and base ik to match actor arm rotation closely or rotation problems surface. in the test this version works the best.
  • fixed auto first person view motion transfer
  • modified elbow tracker placement and orientation to improve arm motion capture using elbow trackers
  • fixed auto first person view transfer not resolving slotsbefore using them to make decisions
  • fixed exception due to modifying listener while iterating over it
  • fixed problem with first calibration after editing/loading character did not properly work for arms
  • added protection against accidently not selecting a capture object if one or more are present. this prevents recording free animations if a scene is set up using capture objects
  • added auto exporting
  • fixed hand pose not set to per-hand suffixed naming causing the hand model to not show finger bending while mocap still works
  • added stage directions support. this allows the mocap operator to set up stage directions before the mocap session. during the mocap session the actor can then see the stage directions on his vr wrist menu to make sessions more efficient
  • added panel buttons to vr wrist menu. this allows the actor to switch the shown panel without needing to use the actor control panel
