Jedi:Downtime

The world isn't always in crisis or in need of the Jedi, so the Jedi spend time on the masteries or cultivate a pasttime.

And then, each has a past-time or industry they select that perfectly suits their temperament. This allows the diversion necessary to prevent obsessions that can build from excessive self-study.

Example pastimes-industry: bonsai trees, music, gardening-cooking, kite-building, geometrical engineering, ; but not barbershop quartets or something: the master does not expend their chi.
