The repository tracking the systematic literature review of tactical cyber attack simulations. What started out as a simple dive into works similar to the Meta Attack Language simulations ended in a convoluted trek where the definition of cyber attack simulations itself had to be established to make meaningful progress. The body of literature is scattered without a common language. However, the hallmark is works executing models to generate behaviors which compromise security properties. The existing literature can be roughly divided into
- Tactical simulations - focused on the specific steps or actions taken to compromise security properties.
- Strategic simulations - focused on more general behaviors of attackers and, often, defenders as they try to realize security-related goals.
- Impact simulations - focused on predicting the effect of a cyber attack on a system or entity, rather than the mechanisms of the attacks themselves.
