Could we potentially get level-switching (and thus potentially switching of carrier aircraft) in RP-1's KCT airlaunch? I think this would enable supersonic and/or heavyier airlaunch levels to be added in such a way that wouldn't step on the toes of existing airlaunch options. Additionally, seperate costs for airlaunch could be added which would add aditional challenge/factors for consideration when choosing how and what to airlaunch.

Some examples of what could feasibly be added:

747 back-mounted: https://www.aerospaceprojectsreview.com/blog/?p=41
747 with Hydrogen Afterburners: https://www.thespacereview.com/article/1608/1
Spiral: https://www.russianspaceweb.com/spiral_orbiter_design.html
Wing Mounted 747 payloads: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LauncherOne
L-1011 belly-mounted: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northrop_Grumman_Pegasus
AN-225/325 Back-mounted: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAKS_(spacecraft), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-325
XB-70 as a launcher for Dynasoar, X-15 and minuteman: https://www.twz.com/37793/all-the-crazy-proposed-variants-of-the-b-70-valkyrie-super-bomber (Note on this Mach-3 airlaunching is possible, see the A-12 airlaunched D-21)

I think adding these would be a good way to flesh out the aeronautics/jet line of the tech tree, and alongside further X-plane contracts, might actually make that part of the tree worth using. Additionally, these airlaunches (at least at present) act as tech unlockables, and could be spec-level'd to prevent those wanting an ultra-realistic no bells and whistles playthrough from cheesing with them.

I fail to see the point of this? You can already customize the airlaunch options to be up to whatever altitude and speed are currently unlocked. As far as I know the cost to mount for airlaunch does not change with level. If you truly wanted to actually be slung beneath a specific carrier craft, then that could simply be derived from the launch parameters the player entered, and not a specific level.

Some aircraft like the 747 can launch heavier, but not as high, others can launch higher and faster, but not as heavy of payloads. This all translates to players being able to create air-launch levels that are not possible, but are combinations of multiple "unlocked" parameters.

For instance, you could unlock the XB-70 and 747 and then have the equivalent of a mach 3 747.

I see. I suppose it could be a bit of a problem in RP-1, but I also think it would be funny if the mach 3 747 airlaunch was possible.

I will also add: I'm more than capable of making each of these airlaunch levels and adding them to the tech tree, if this change is implemented I'd be glad to.
