Connectors and displays

  1. A 15-pin HD D-Sub will have 6 band enable outputs, 6 PTT outputs, and 1 PTT input.

  2. Phono jack for PTT-Input (same as the D-Sub input line).

  3. 2x 12V coaxial power jacks. Power is passed through to the 905 for a single power cable connection.

  4. USB Host port and Device port. Could be used to pass through serial CIV to PC.

  5. Status indicators. Several options possible. In reality can choose at compile time, I could have them all working. A display can be surface mounted in a 3D printed bezel outside the box lid, or mounted on the PCB and visible through a hole cut in the lid. A 3D printed bezel can be added for finish. Options: a. 6 band LEDs plus power and PTT-in status LEDs b. M5AtomS3 with 0.95" color LCD - has time, date, frequency, band name, PTT icon, and 8-digit grid square. (have to add expansion IO via i2c bus). This is working today (no IO yet) c. 128x32 OLED (SSD1306) - will have to rotate pages to get info out. It is working on y 705 Xvtr box project. d. some other screen like the 1.5" color LCD on the ESP32-S3-USB_OTG kit or even an 800x480 graphics screen.

For this prototype I went with 8 LEDs. Red for PTT, Blue for the 6 bands, and Green for power on. All are programmable and PWM modulated, thus dimmable. They can be assigned for any function, flash at different rates, whatever is needed. The blue band indicator LEDS for now are lit solid when active. I plan to flash them when that band is in TX.

  1. Back panel potentiometer for adjusting LED brightness. The 8 LEDs are all PWM controlled.
