I basically only want to use this integration to check once per day (8am) if I have low gas. and if it does, then perform an action. How can I do that to make sure i maximize battery life on my car?

That setting tells the car that during those hours of the day you don't need it to wake and update the status. You could set your start hour as 0830 and finish as 0730. That should make sure that the car will update at 0800.
