Hi! Got one, but it came with the little tiny tube (very low sensitivity). Replaced it with a J321 and removed the solder jumper next to (-) terminal, which I believe is specific for the weaker tube since I saw pictures on the net with an M4011 and the jumper removed (please, correct me if I'm wrong).

Now, the next step is to get RadPro on it. What do I need to do?

This is what needs to be done:

• Somebody already downloaded the firmware from the device. So you would need to disassemble it, and see how the code accesses the MCU internal devices (input/output ports, timers, ADCs, etc).
• It would also be helpful to make a schematics of the FS-5000 circuitry, so you can understand what goes where. To do this, you would have to follow the traces from the microprocessor to the board's devices (keyboard, display, battery, etc) and see what port connects to what device. A multimeter might help.
• Then, follow the steps in https://github.com/Gissio/radpro/blob/main/docs/developers.md and customize the code for the FS-5000.

One request: Could you measure the detector's dead-time? It's under Statistics.

This should take quite some time to stabilize. To measure faster, use a radioactive source.

Quick question regarding the software for the FS5000. Does installing new software increase the measurement speed and the decrease in value after moving away from the radiation source? Has anyone measured this?

After a good 10 hrs, with ~14500 pulses, it says <65µs for me.

So what value would you be recommending to be set at the dead time correction setting in that case? I mean there are so many values between 40 and 60µs and the device only tells me <60µs, that's not terribly helpful ;D

Some time ago I did a runtime test with an FS-5000 and the original firmware. After 12.5 days the device started to warn about low battery. The display was off most of the time. I repeated this test now with RadPro 2.0.3. on the same device. The display was also off, no ticker, no vibration, just the green pulse LED. The fully charged battery lasted 19.5 days, so a lot LONGER than with the original firmware!

By the way, a clever person from the german Geiger counter forum found out what kind of step-up-converter chip it is that is used in high voltage generation:
