socat ist eine Alternative zum netcat Paket, welches mit erweiterter Funktionalität aufwartet. Dies hat natürlich auch seinen Preis: socat benötigt lib_ssl, lib_util sowie libz, welche bei der Installation über menuconfig automatisch mit ausgewählt werden.
