Is it possible to hide the players controls when paused, fullscreen?

Youtube is often used for instructional content.

When watching instructional videos, it's common to want to see the whole uninterrupted screen, fullscreen, with nothing in the way.

You give us the option to turn off pause icons which is glorious, I thank you so much.

But I'd really like to be able to be paused fullscreen without seeing the player. Those controls should go away when my mouse leaves that screen.

Or is this a bug in my system?

It is not possible at the moment due to how this is implemented upstream.
