Given Grocy has built-in support for this, do we need this project anymore?

Thanks a lot for your work in any case! That said, I just saw grocy/grocy#158 (comment), which announces that grocy now has built-in support for this.

So what advantages does this project still have, then?

While grocy now has the feature, this project has a different approach, mainly being able to use a physical barcode scanner efficiently (by automating a couple of things that grocy doesn't) and having multiple lookup providers, including BarcodeBuddy Federation.
