Resurface Device Agent installation instructions on inactive remote instance page #5104
Comments
Agreed with @gstout52 that I'll put this in for Thursday's release. Will be a new "Connect" button that re-displays the one time passcode dialog, etc. |
The red does stand out more, but it's also not a "warning"/dangerous action to take, so that makes me waver to the secondary styling |
Yeah, let's not go with the red. What if we add a pointer to it, similar to a one-step product tour? |
Logically this is tricky, may be a valid for a team to have created a device and not connected it yet. I'm using the "last seen" status to render this atm |
We lose our highest-intent new Free users between where they register a device and install the device agent, steps 4 and 5 here:
We could improve conversion at this step by catching users who register a device and open it, but haven't connected to the device agent yet.
On this page, let's display a large, bright CTA that says Connect, under the "Agent Version" line. Provide the same documentation as what is provided in the current Free onboarding tour.
Around 9:26 the user continues to come to the remote instance page for an instance that has been registered but not connected to the device agent. The user has by this time repeatedly closed our of instructions we have provided, including for installing the device agent. Many users exhibit this behavior, and this task will help us smooth friction where they seem to end up.
