Error using ha-floorplan in ui-lovelace-minimalist panel.

I have ha-floorplan setup in a panel based view in a ui-lovelace-minimalist dashboard.

Everything works, but when I go into the floorplan, then back out to the Overview (default) dashboard I have an error-card in the list of cards:

Invalid entity ID at position 0: *

Additionally, in Settings -> Devices -> Entities, I have an entity for * in the list. Clicking on it has this info:

This entity ('*') does not have a unique ID, therefore its settings cannot be managed from the UI. See the [documentation] for more detail.

When I refresh the browser window, the * entity goes away, and does not show the error card in the Overview, or as a line in the entities list, until I browse to the ha-floorplan again.

I didn't see any info about this, is using the floorplan as a tab/view this way preventing some cleanup code from running?

Yes I can see that entity as well but I don’t have any errors associated with it. Will have to wait and see what @exetico says about this one….

I tried to read through the issue twice, but I can't get to the same situation as you. I've also updated HA, just to be sure. Where should I look for the entity?

I'm using the Amoled theme, and ha-floorplan is also added as a panel like so:

Just updated HA, and now I'm seeing:

But I'm not seeing any errors related to the * element. But it's for sure generated with ha-floorplan. Well...

Glad you are feeling better Tobias, yes I don’t see any errors as well but the OP indicated it was happening with the auto generated dashboard which I don’t use and I assume you don’t either. So I guess HA is trying to create a card with that entity but it is failing. Can you work out how or why this entity is being created?

It also happens to me. If it helps, here is my simple dashboard. I use latest HA version. Note that after refreshing the page (not the floor plan page, the overview page), it disappears.I also see the '*' in the entities page.

I finally got time to walk through the code-base. I'm sure sorry to be a bit late here, but it didn't impact my experience, and the primary work has taken all my code-energy 🙀.

Are some of them auto-generated?

Quick search of the forums show that people have a similar problem when they have an entity in an area which has the same name as the area. So @eyalcha please check if this may be the case

Sorry to bump this, but I'm seeing this issue (or, a very similar one) as well.

HA 2023.2.2, ha-floorplan 1.0.35

After viewing the floorplan card, and switching back to the "Overview" dashboard (entirely auto-generated), I see this error:

When this happens I am able to see the ha-floorplan entity:

As others have mentioned previously, refreshing the browser clears the error, and clears the entity.

What is interesting (to me at least), is that while the error is reproducible both on Desktop (Mac OS, Safari) and Mobile (iOS HA App), it is not present on both at the same time (i.e., after producing the error on desktop, but before refreshing to clear it, the "Overview" dashboard loads up just fine on mobile. The same is true if you swap the desktop/mobile in the previous statement.) The ha-floorplan entity (sensor.adf4a1ac-c0eaeaac) is also only findable on the system where the error is present.

I do not have any entities named the same as an area as OzGav mentioned above (though I have many of the form <area_name>_thing).

OK that's weird. Floorplan doesn't create any sensors AFAIK. It certainly doesn't on my system that I can see. @exetico @pkozul any ideas?

Floorplan create one sensor, which lives in the front-end, if I remember correclty. But, I don't get why our entity would break anything here :)? Al I missing something? I've never seen as issue like this.
