Turns Gmail strips it out and replaces it with blank <ul> tags. Most everything else supports SVG, though. https://www.caniemail.com/features/image-svg/ Frustrating. I use one extra image from Google font/icons: playlist_add-white.png
I dumped it in web/assets/img - but it can go anywhere. Best to go somewhere that won't be overwritten in a version upgrade.
Really though, I should replace it with an in-line svg, so it doesn't need an external file at all.
