Why tf can I not have the word gay in my server description?? There's no good reason IMO.

Hi @Flolon , Thanks for reaching out.

The decision was made because ultimately we felt that there was no need for the topic of gender or orientation to be mentioned or brought up.

The logic behind this was that topics like this can raise unwanted behaviour in multiple forms such as Hate.

If you have something that you are trying to put that is being blocked by mistake then please share what you are trying to do and we can try to find a solution.

Thanks

My friends and I are gay & or queer. I should be able to have a private server with the word gay in the description. To that, there shouldn't be a filter on a private server.

Private servers are not listed on the public server list.
As such the description is meaningless.

I wonder do you mean that you have your server set to be public on the server list and as such it is not private. Therefore it will censor the words out.

I saw the description being filtered in the key master site.
The point I'm getting at is the word "gay" being a blacklisted word for public & private servers. I understand it is useful for basic public server moderation of titles, etc., However, filtering words like gay isn't going to fix or mitigate people with hateful intentions.
Blocking words attached to identity or orientation doesn't do anything helpful.

Hello,

I understand that you feel as if filtering these words out will not mitigate the issues that we seek to prevent, however the question could also be turned around to: What purpose or reasoning could one reasonably have to include sexuality or sexuality-themed descriptive terms into a car game? Allowing such would create unneeded potential for targeted acts of hate and/or abuse and it is not necessary.

We seek to ensure that the platform remains as safe and welcoming for everyone. As such, sometimes that requires that we stand firm on rules and guidelines that not everyone may agree with or understand; however it is our way of ensuring that we're doing our part in protecting the community to the best of our reach.

Thanks,
