Project breakdown
The major revision of EAG2012 has - for now - been broken down into five steps, which will be monitored by individual project boards in GitHub.
During this phase, WGoS will discuss the various topics relevant to the major revision of EAG2012. This will refer to EAG2012 itself and potential improvements of the standard per se, as well as covering aspects coming from the major revision of EAC-CPF, the Encoded Archival Context - Corporate Bodies, Person, and Families, conducted by the Technical Subcommittee on Encoded Archival Standards, and the most recent drafts of the Records in Contexts Conceptual Model and Ontology. WGoS will decide if and how these aspects affect the new version of EAG and they will define what this means in terms of elements, their sub-elements, and their attributes.
See more details for this first phase here: https://github.com/ArchivesPortalEuropeFoundation/EAG2012/projects/1.
Once discussions have been finalised and decisions have been made, there will be parallel though interlinked projects for drafting of the new schema(s), the new tag library, and the default conversion script from EAG2012 to the new EAG.
The above mentioned three parallel projects will then lead into the phase of the call for comments. The community will be asked to either directly comment in GitHub or their feedback, once received, will be added to the appropriate issues by the WGoS. Anything that was not commented on will be understood as being approved; the according issues will be closed as their implementation will already have happened during the previous phase. Anything that was commented on will go to the next project with the WGoS reviewing the feedback and deciding on next steps.
